out on the town

This piece was the reaction to living in a the heart of a major city for the first time. For many years I wanted to live in San Francisco. I grew up across the bridge in the east bay suburbs. I would visit the city regularly and I was always blown away by some of the quality differences. When the dust settled from the dot com bomb, I was able to find and afford a apartment in the Mission District on the corner 17th and Albion. I felt like I was seeing with new eyes again. I was taking in the disparity of wealth and about million other things. I was studying the details of my new surroundings.
